Javier Sartorius was an extroverted young man and a promising Spanish tennis player, with a successful life in the world of sports in the United States, where he had graduated in Business Administration. However, he was looking for a deeper meaning in life.
Shocked by the poverty of the homeless in Los Angeles, and already a paddle-tennis champion in that country, he decided to leave everything and go as a missionary to Cuzco (Peru). There he began a spiritual journey of radical surrender. His need to encounter God through poverty, silence and prayer led him to the Seminary of Toledo and later to the Community of Lord, in the mountains of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees.
There he entered the contemplative life and discovered the hidden treasure he had been searching for. Already close to Jesus Christ, Javier faced the cross with joy in the form of illness. He died of a sudden heart attack shortly before receiving the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
Javier Sartorius Milans del Bosch was an extroverted, handsome young man of noble birth, charismatic and sporty. He studied Business Administration in the United States, where he ended up more focused on surfing the waves of California, winning paddle tennis championships or training Hollywood stars. Beaches, parties, girls, sports. Javier had it all. Or not.
When he became U.S. paddle champion, Javier threw the trophy in the trash. He began to feel an interest in spiritual life, through yoga and meditation, and for the underprivileged. At the invitation of a family member, he went to help the humanitarian work of missionaries in the mountains of Cuzco, Peru. He went to spend a month; he ended up staying for a year.
After Peru, Javier was willing to leave his whole life behind in order to find himself. His tireless search for meaning finally led him to seek a life of poverty, prayer and contemplation in a secluded place: the Sanctuary of Lord.
This documentary about Javier Sartorius seeks to go beyond a simple biographical account. He wants to transmit the spiritual experience of renunciation and detachment in favor of a joyful, silent and contemplative Love. It seeks to appeal to young people dreaming of wealth, to girls in search of a fulfilling love, and to Catholics who attend mass without real commitment.
More than highlighting Javier’s holiness, it seeks to challenge, provoke and attract, showing the beauty of a faith that flees from comfort, that breaks schemes, and that trusts completely in the Lord. The film is proposed as a journey: from the allure of worldly success to the chapel of a shrine lost in the mountains, passing through the impact of poverty in Peru and addressing the need for spiritual life in the first world.

After an outstanding career in tennis and studies in Business Administration in the United States, Javier felt an inner call to help the poorest, which materialized in a trip to a mission in Cusco.
After serving there for a time, Javier sought silence and dedicated his life to prayer and sacrifice at the Lord’s Shrine, a spiritually significant place, imbued with history and devotion.
Despite the inconveniences, he integrated himself into the work of the sanctuary, joyfully participating in the reconstruction of buildings and in agricultural work. His deep connection with spiritual life led him to profess particular religious vows.
Later he agreed to begin the path of training towards the ministerial priesthood, during which he came face to face with the disease.
His life was cut short by a sudden heart attack shortly before receiving the Sacrament of Orders. He left a legacy of kindness and authenticity, showing genuine transformation as he dedicated his life to serving God in the Lord’s Sanctuary.
