Javier Sartorius Milans del Bosch was an extroverted, handsome young man of noble birth, charismatic and sporty. He studied Business Administration in the United States, where he ended up more focused on surfing the waves of California, winning paddle tennis championships or training Hollywood stars. Beaches, parties, girls, sports. Javier had it all. Or not.
When he became U.S. paddle champion, Javier threw the trophy in the trash. He began to feel an interest in spiritual life, through yoga and meditation, and for the underprivileged. At the invitation of a family member, he went to help the humanitarian work of missionaries in the mountains of Cuzco, Peru. He went to spend a month; he ended up staying for a year.
After Peru, Javier was willing to leave his whole life behind in order to find himself. His tireless search for meaning finally led him to seek a life of poverty, prayer and contemplation in a secluded place: the Sanctuary of Lord.
