Javier Sartorius was an extroverted young man and a promising Spanish tennis player, with a successful life in the world of sports in the United States, where he had graduated in Business Administration. However, he was looking for a deeper meaning in life.
Shocked by the poverty of the homeless in Los Angeles, and already a paddle-tennis champion in that country, he decided to leave everything and go as a missionary to Cuzco (Peru). There he began a spiritual journey of radical surrender. His need to encounter God through poverty, silence and prayer led him to the Seminary of Toledo and later to the Community of Lord, in the mountains of the Catalan Pre-Pyrenees.
There he entered the contemplative life and discovered the hidden treasure he had been searching for. Already close to Jesus Christ, Javier faced the cross with joy in the form of illness. He died of a sudden heart attack shortly before receiving the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
